Hey guys so I thought I’d use my first post to introduce myself; outline some things about myself and what I hope this blog will become.

So let’s get into it!

My name is Rosie, you can call me that, or Venus or anything you like really. I’ve been into the Asian skincare game for about 5/6 months now so I know a fair share but I’m still learning and I’m still locking down an effective routine just as I’m sure you all are as well. I wanted to make this blog because I’ve learned so much in such a short space of time, having gone from using shampoo to wash off my makeup in the shower and putting Sudocrem on any acne I had at the time, to religiously double cleansing and slathering my face with all sorts of concoctions.

I guess I wanted to give back to the community that gave me so much enjoyment and fulfillment.

I have combination skin; dry/dehydrated on my forehead, cheeks and neck, then oily on my nose with some hormonal acne on my chin and jawline for good measure. So I need a vast array of different products to keep my skin happy and in tip top condition. Which makes for great blog material funnily enough! My main skin concerns are redness and brightening, but my daily aim is to sufficiently hydrate my skin. My moisture barrier is not in the best condition it could be but it is in better condition than it has ever been; still, my skin feels tight after cleansing and sucks up serums and sheet masks with no problem so I try my best to keep up with it. Overall the ingredients I’m looking for are Niacinamide, Ceramides and Cholesterols, Licorice, any Antioxidant and Hyaluronic Acid for good measure.

Right now my routine is at the bare-bones minimum I could do to it, having had a bad reaction to the Cosrx Low PH Cleanser I halted all other products to make sure I’d found the right culprit, so I’ll stick to that until all of my lovely blocked pores settle down and stop being angry at me.

I found out about Asian skincare through the Reddit sub, /r/asianbeauty, for anyone unfamiliar. A lot of people in the community claim that falling into Asian skincare is like falling down the rabbithole which is exactly what I did. I stumbled upon the subreddit and ended up pouring hours upon hours during the first few days, reading every side-bar post and every information post, the most recent posts, the most popular posts… I think you get the idea. It really is such a great source of information, though take everything with a pinch of salt as these are all normal every day people with a love for skincare and self-love just like us, they don’t have all the answers and they’re allowed to make mistakes. I guess what I’m trying to say is, do your own research, but it’s a great starting point. I will be sourcing certain posts if I find that a thread has a substantial amount of information that I have used, the same goes for blog posts that might be related to any subjects I’ve touched upon in my own piece.

I hope to bring comprehensive reviews without bias as well as knowledge, discussions and any tips that I find along the way. Above all that, to share my skincare journey with you and encourage you to do the same with me!

Thank you for reading and I look forward to getting into the thick of it!
